Befriend the Sanskrit language in one easy and fun afternoon!

Are all those strange words used for yoga poses confusing to you?  Do you want to become more comfortable with various chants you've heard in yoga classes and events?  Whether you are brand new to yoga or are an experienced teacher who simply wants to get a better handle on Sanskrit pronunciation, this workshop will bring new ease and enjoyment to this sacred and beautifully resonant language that is an integral part of the world of yoga.

This workshop will help you:

  • Break down Sanskrit terms into easily understandable parts

  • Remember Sanskrit names for poses

  • Find ease in pronouncing common Sanskrit terms used in yoga classes

People often ask why Sanskrit is used in yoga classes, rather than simply using the English translations.  This ancient language is unique in that it was intentionally structured to move beyond the analytical mind into deeper levels of consciousness.  When used, Sanskrit has the ability to take us instantly to a deeper state of awareness.  The sounds that make up this sacred language are said to reflect the elemental sounds of the universe and thus affect our nervous system in a very direct and powerful way, creating calming and opening effects on mind, body and spirit.

But, still, it can be a challenge to retain the names of the poses, much less pronounce words in this language that is so foreign to most of us!  In this workshop, registered yoga teacher Cindy Novelo will break Sanskrit words down into easy, manageable parts.  She will lead participants through a series of fun exercises that will help students to pronounce words commonly used in yoga classes and engage participants in physical activities that will help to truly embody the meaning of the words.

Price: $225-$345 (see below)

Ignite and enrich your own personal spiritual practice as we explore the common ground between yoga philosophy and mystical Christianity - and how both can assist us in clearing our vision, unveiling our souls and finding a deeper path to peace and harmony. The weekend will be infused with music, including a concert on Saturday night.

One Mind, One Heart: Jesus, the Yogi

The Unveiling of the Soul

A Retreat with Cindy Novelo

  • Discover an exciting new mystical perspective of the wisdom teachings of Jesus

  • Deepen your understanding of yoga philosophy and its common ground with Christianity

  • Ignite and enrich your own personal spiritual practice

  • Learn practical tools to help you find a deeper path to peace and harmony

  • Experience sacred music and contemplative practices in a beautiful, serene setting

Join Cindy Novelo in the Forest for a wondrous weekend of spiritual exploration, sacred music and inner discovery - a journey into the common ground between yoga philosophy and Christianity that promises to ignite and enrich your own personal spiritual practice. As Deepak Chopra so eloquently proposes in his book The Third Jesus, Jesus was calling for a revolution, asking us all to see with new eyes - for complete and utter transformation from within. This, too, is the essential goal of yoga - to unveil our deepest souls so that we might see our own and all of creation’s inherent divinity. Jesus gave us parables and stories, while yoga provides us practical tools to help us do so. This weekend will invite you to fall into grace - to discover peace and joy in every moment of this wondrous and sacred life.

Demystify Sanskrit Workshop - 2-4:30 p.m.

11711 College Boulevard
Overland Park Kansas 66210
(913) 498-1144
Price: $35 advance; $40 at the door

Advent is a time of birth and rebirth, a sacred time which invites us to welcome the birth of the divine Word in our soul.
